The Torn Veil - Part II
“And immediately, coming up from the water, He saw the heavens parting and the Spirit descending upon Him like a dove” Mark 1:10
“Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split, 52 and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; 53 and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many” Matthew 27:51-53.
(The Veil is torn and all of history has been impacted, including the Tabernacle of Moses, where you are standing on this journey of unequaled magnitude.)
According to the writings of Josephus, a first century Jewish historian, the veil in Solomon’s temple was 30 cubits high which is about forty-five feet (1 Kings 6:2), however when Herod added onto the temple he had the size increased in height to 40 cubits or about sixty feet high. Josephus also tells us that the veil was four inches thick and that horses tied to each side could not pull the veil apart.
TORN HEAVEN - TORN VEIL
There is a bit of irony between the tearing of the Veil and the Baptism of Jesus in the Gospel of Mark. Mark tells us that all those watching the Baptism of Jesus, saw the Heavens parted, or more literally translated the heavens were “torn”. They also saw the Spirit descending like a dove on Jesus to herald the beginning of His Earthly ministry. Tied to that then, here on this blood soaked hill, all who were there heard Jesus give back to the Father, the very Spirit He had received at his baptism. This time, instead of the heavens being torn, the Veil in the Temple was torn. With the coming of the Spirit Jesus began His ministry, and with the releasing of His spirit He finished His ministry.
Keeping that thought in mind, you can now see that at the Baptism of Jesus, God announced He had come to man; and here with the tearing of the Veil, God announced He had made a way for man to come to Him. All barriers had been removed and God had made a way for you and God to walk together again.
TORN FIRMAMENT
Rabbinical teaching is that the Veil represented the division between the earthly and the heavenly as well as representing the locked Gate to the Garden of Eden. With the closing of this gate, everlasting life was no longer available to mankind. Anyone with sin would die. To make sure it stayed that way, God stationed two Cherubim at the entrance to the Garden of Eden - “Lest they eat from the Tree of Life and live forever.” The two cherubim on the Ark of the Covenant also represent the two cherubim that guarded the Gate to Eden. Anyone who had sin and entered here would die. Therefore, in so tearing the Veil, the firmament was also torn, making a way for man to once again come to the Father. The Gate to Eden had been opened.
ETERNAL SACRIFICE
With this event, many Graves could now be opened in Jerusalem. Miraculously, the thief who hung on the cross beside Jesus, along with all those in Sheol who believed the “good News,” could proceed to enter Paradise. Thus fulfilling the word spoken by Jesus to the thief, “This day you will be with Me in Paradise.” Stated again, the gate to Eden was opened. Man could once again intimately and personally commune with the Father, through the blood of Jesus. He alone was the Passover Lamb and thus the Eternal sacrifice slain from before the foundation of the world.
THE NINTH HOUR
It is also interesting that all this happened at the ninth hour of the day. What you may not have noticed is that at the moment Jesus cried out, it is finished and died, the Veil was simultaneously torn in two. At that very moment darkness lifted from the Earth. You need to grasp that this was not the moment darkness came to the Earth. You see it had already been dark for three hours - from 12:00pm to 3:00pm, the time when Jesus died. Thus when Jesus died and the Veil was torn, darkness was lifted. Salvation had come to the Jews. It was almost as if, with the tearing of the Veil, the Light from the Holy of Holies had been released onto the Earth.
SALVATION FOR JEW AND GENTILE
We read in Acts 10, which took place just a few months later, that at the same ninth hour, an angel would come and announce to Cornelius that Salvation had come to the Gentiles as well. Hence, at the command of the angel, Cornelius would send for Peter and the rest is history. Simply said, at the ninth hour salvation came to the Jew and at the ninth hour salvation came to the gentile. (That is why 9 is the number of evangelism and salvation)

Wow, John Paul, et. all ya’all. As of late things have gotten extreeeeemmmelyyyyy pretty interesting in the Body Of Christ since the veil was torn in two. Until now I didn’t understand how big and thick the veil actually was. What color was it anyway? My sanctified imagination tells me that it was crimson/magenta red but it could of been another color. And the way that the heavens ripped open, do you think that people who observed saw the big hand of the father ripping open the sky with loud thunderings and lightenings and then a light from heaven descending like a dove upon Jesus and people who were there actually felt the power con-ming forth from Jesus in the form of electricity and being filled changed and transformed with great peace that day knowing that someone of Greatness was among them. This revelation is definitely going to help me meditate more thoughtfully on the 4 Gospels of Jesus Christ. Wow, great stuff and here some more great stuff. Have you seen anyone get so happy when given an offering unto the Lord and turning it into a celebratory event that no one will ever forget. We ll here is a video clip for you. I get the feeling that this man would have done the same thing if he witnessed the event that happened when Jesus was baptized…ready, set roll it:

What interests me about this is how the HOLY Spirit descends through the torn veil of an opened Heaven on the Son of Man and how He enters through the torn veil of the Son of God over the awakened human heart to reveal Jesus to us, in this Pursuit of HOLINESS and this is a Pursuit of Holiness.

“There was a ‘divine explosion’ of the love of God in my heart. I didn’t know what was happening to me but felt this overwhelming sense of peace. All the bitterness, hurt and anger I’d been carrying due to death in my family began to melt. I had an encounter with God and knew I would never be the same again; something in the very foundation of my soul had been touched.”
….and then he his knees,gazing Heavenward and cried out: “I have nevr gotten over the wonder of it all”.

This post reminded me of a dream I had a looonnng time ago when I was in high school. In the dream, there was this thick red curtain. In the dream, I was wrestling with my pastor and we got wrapped up in the curtain and the curtain came down. Then I woke up. I always paralleled that to maybe to having a similar meaning of when Jacob wrestled with the Angel of the Lord, but I am still not sure exactly of the meaning and that dream has always stuck with me. If any of you have any ideas please share. Shirley, your mention of the color of the veil brought that dream back to my remembrance.

I keep seeing a *BLAM!* when I was reading 9.
I woke up one morning seeing 911 glowing on my wall. (there were no windows in my room and no alarm clock because it was broken so no light from an outside source)
Also as a note I could still see the 911 when my eyes were closed. This was about 2 years ago.
Whats up with that? Emergency? Prophetic Evangelism?

Yesterday the media came out with innuendo about two very notable Christians… Whether immorality did or did not happen—still having “evidence” for breaking news reports does “hurt” Christianity.
I believe in exposure–and not covering up situations. You realize that the devil is still the tempter, as he has always been. We must constantly remain alert and keep our eyes upon Him. The devil can deceive even the strongest of Christians.
Matthew 24 speaks of the great tribulation that is approaching and advancing…God will shorten the days–and the word says it is possible for the elect of God to be deceived.
John Paul, I appreciate the moral stand you took a few months ago and I respected you for voicing it. Many may not understand but you were writing in mercy–even though it came through judgment.
There is major demonic warfare getting stronger and darker on the horizon…Thank God that 2000 years ago God tore that veil so we could see into the heavens and keep our focus on Him.
I don’t know about y’all—but I want to be in that “elect” company–the bride of Christ and the daughter of God who walks the walk and talks the talk!!!
Let’s make it a priority to pray for our Christian leaders on the forefront and each other in the faith–that we will keep focused and looking at the author and finisher of our faith.
Read Hebrews chapters 11-12-13—It will “build” you up! Hallelujah!!!

hey shaun, the numbers could relate to a lot of things. My understanding of God is that He often says a single thing and somehow it can relate to more than one thing.. I think, im still learning here. But the best realisation ive had, is that He is the revealer of mysteries. So why not take a moment to just ask Him what it means and see what He says. Jdc
The Ninth Hour–revelation given to me that confirms your teaching here John Paul which I would like to share as briefly as possible, as when the Lord gives dreams w/all their symbolism, some are quite intense and take years sometimes to receive full revelation on. But in one of two which confirmed each other, the number 9 was highly significant.
The Lord had given me 1 dream in which I drove around a rotary, with an enter and exit point. With you having lived in New England, you would understand how that works; you drive counterclock wise until you see your exit and pull off to the right, always. After giving me those confirming dreams the Lord turned that rotary into a clock–by His putting me into a light sleep while asking me 3 questions concerning it. I realized I entered at the “12″ and exited at the “3″… He also asked me how far around I went before I exited—specifically—which was His 3rd and last question. It gave me further revelation that would become vital to my success…and be used later on, unbeknown to me.
My answer to Him was, “(I drove) three quarters of the way around”.. Three quarters of 12 is 9. I entered at the 12, driving counterclock wise until I reached what would become the #3–and got off the rotary—–at which time— I was freed.
Since the time of His giving me that understanding, I began looking up, just as you have done, references to the number 3 and the number 9, finding very much what you have found–especially the hour in which Jesus died,, “It is finished” and for me, in the dream, it was— I was rescued.
But… this is the part I hope you read as it will bless you trmendously. A couple of years ago I began seeing the number 9 everywhere in the course of one day. It happened so much that I finally went to the Lord, as I have been taught to not go by what we see in the natural: I’m very much cautious of it as the enemy can manipulate circumstances…. but.. I also knew the Lord had inserted that information within one of my 2 dreams and then later gave me more insight into it for a purpose.
So, I asked…why was I seeing 9 everywhere–and I specifically said, “Lord, I don’t READ numbers!” as in numerology. It wasn’t more than 4 days later..being liberal, as in my mind I think it was almost within 24 hours that as I was listening to Tommy Tenny who had just released his book, “One Night with the King”… that on his own program talking about the same, he began reading an excerpt of his book which was from Esther 2:15… “when the turn of Esther had come”
As soon as he said that word, “turn”.. my spirit lit up– the Lord just quickened me as I had already looked it up in the Greek in which it is defined as the following: “to turn, or go to the next full number”…
I “turned” off the rotary at that point–which saved my life. Everything I had known the way I had known it at the time prior to my turning off the rotary (to the right, as well, remember)..was over, gone.. removed and the condition I was in was over. It was finished…completed.
In the past year and 1/2, the Lord announced thru a rhema word that “due time” had come…and I began to see considerable activity all around me; things changing, alignment would be the best word I could think of..concerning family and others who will be affected by my deliverance and total healing. I also began seeing the number 9 sometimes up to 7 times a day– for the past 12 months—as I experienced some tremendously difficult spiritual conflict trying to stop the plan of God in my life —of which the Lord simply used for His own Glory to my benefit and others as well.. If I had not rec’d revelation from the Lord regarding the #9 thru Tommy Tenny as soon as he said the word, “turn”..after having studied it out myself also to get as much knowledge as I could receive on my own– I would have ignored seeing the number in the 5 physical senses.. But I have learned the Lord can speak, using a number given to us by Him to begin with, confirmed and defined— to tell me “my turn is near”…. It is finished is upon me!
I just wanted to share this with you—as the Lord does use numbers—and their meaning to lead us, once He has confirmed it is Him doing it. And it does so thoroughly also mean “a new
beginning”–a glorious one! When old things are passed away, the past is forgotten, sins, errors, mistakes, innocent ignorance–meaning ignorance because we just hadn’t got to “that part” of His word yet, someone hadn’t taught us yet– not that we chose to be ignorant of His Word— and the mistakes that can be made because of it..In my case, it was quite serious, life threatening.
God, in His mercy, showed me the end from the beginning before it even happend. He always has a plan to redeem–to bring out–to restore, rebuild…and undo the works of darkness meant to take us out, destroying our lives..

This morning as I was preparing for a radio show and tidying up my work area, I came across some old pictures of my and my children when they were very young and at various ages and the different places we use to live. On top of it all in my time capsule there were also prophetic words from other people that were spoken over my life as well as dreams and visions that I have received for the future that I am now walking in and some of it points to the ongoing subject and theme on this blog as we have journyed thru and are continuing to journey thru the dark night of the soul and spirit this is quite amazing. This was from the “Intercessor’s for Israel Group” that I have been a part of for years:

Saturday the Holy Spirit sent me out to thrift stores to buy baskets as a “prophetic act” for His harvest…
There are a lot of unique and unusual baskets to be found. HE told me I would find unique and unusual people in His field.
They didn’t cost a lot–I think the most expensive basket was 79 cents–but I’ve got them stacked up and ready.
It encouraged me to buy up these baskets. I don’t think it was an insignificant act that HE directed me to do…
Praise GOD we can follow the LORD of the harvest into HIS field!!!

Am I a basket case!?!
I’ve asked on multiple ocassions for an interpretation from God but I think this is one that will require an intermediary to interpret.
I can generally interpret stuff like that for other people but when it comes to myself my gifts do not seem to work for myself.

Ah. 911 is 11th hour evangelization/salvation. And because 111 (Jesus, the beloved son) apeared in 911 place this could mean that i’ll be an 11th hour evangelist which will lead many to Jesus! Thats encouraging but its irritating that it took over 2 years to get that figured out. (Well maybe there is even more too it)
I’d also “felt” this was related to psalms 91:1 which is all about savation or protection during a “worst case senario.”

Ok, I was looking at a Streams Dream Card and this may help you somewhat regarding #9 and #11. Based on what was already written here on this blog the number 9 means evangelist. It can also mean judgment. The number 11 means that you might be in a time of transition, standing in the gap as an intercessor or it can the call of a prophet. You may have been having a vision concerning your calling. I am a little wabblely on interpreting the meaning of a dream or vision for other people because each person has their own unique dream language and I am not them
Everyone:
I do not usually have this but within the last couple of days I have been hit with a slight panic attack having to do with transitioning from something familiar and unfulfilling and going into something that the Lord has released for me to do. The panic attack was based on fear of the unknown and it has something to do with a past failure of something that the Lord wants to bring success too in the now. This something was an unfulfilled dream that He had put in my heart when I was a little girl. I thought to myself when I was younger that I was to accomplish what God asked me to do in my early life but there were many obstacles and road blocks. I also believe that I lacked the maturity and character to fulfill it in my younger years. Within the last couple of days as I am approaching the time of this new transition, I am feeling a sense of impending doom like a voice of lurking around telling me that what I received from God regarding the ability to move forward is going to fall flat and I will never finish what God has purposed for me to do in this life. So please pray for me in the area of trusting God for my future success in what He has called me to do. Thanks!

Go forward! Kick off those weights and enter that next transition phase HE has for you. Open those spiritual ears of yours and you can hear the crowd of witnesses cheering you on. They can’t enter in–until you enter in.
I’ve been going through a new phase, too. For years around three am the Lord would wake me up to pray…I felt that was my time–the beginning of the 4th watch to pray and commune with HIM…
I have not been rising or awakening as much at that time. It bothered me, but then I’ve been dreaming more dreams lately…so it is like HE has shifted me a bit…I pray constantly during the day—so I have to believe HE is in this transition.
Maybe it is R & R for a short time…

John Paul’s testimony is that he is called to be an eleventh hour prophet. Maybe you can find a cd or dvd on him teaching that.
Let’s all be flexible and alert in the eleventh hour. New paradigm shifts are happening all about us…

Shirley, Thank you. I’m “Hold on Holly” today. Each day it seems that a much needed rest from all the anxiety is lifting. It appears that the light is getting lighter and the dark is fading away. It is such reassurance what you wrote Shirley I bless you today and pray that you will be uplifted. A pastor spoke recently about an attack on the believers in the area of a spirit of murder. The enemy seeks to murder our dreams and cause us to lose hope. But we don’t allow this attack against ourselves or our brothers and sisters in Christ. And we stand firm Lord Jesus that you who began a good work will perfect it until the day of the Lord Jesus. We are to support one another and lift each other up in prayer as the rocks are exploding around us. Hold on tight everyone to each other in spirit. We are breaking through! Lord, hold each one close to your heart today and especially Shirley that she be given the gift of faith to believe in her dreams as a child. I am holding on with you Shirley and everyone.
