The Four Golden Pillars of Deity II

Where can I go from Your Spirit?

Or where can I flee from Your presence?

If I ascend into heaven, You are there;

If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.

If I take the wings of the morning,

And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,

Even there Your hand shall lead me,

And Your right hand shall hold me.

If I say, “Surely the darkness shall fall on me,”

Even the night shall be light about me;

Indeed, the darkness shall not hide from You,

But the night shines as the day;

The darkness and the light are both alike to You.

Psa. 139:7-12

Standing before these four Golden Pillars is a planned “pause” by the Lord. Here we reassess our humanity in light of His deity. We see our smallness in light of His greatness, our weakness in light of His Strength, and our temporal nature in light of His Eternal nature. All this is meant to help us grasp the mere fringe of His Deity. The Gold covering of these four Pillars is meant to remind us of the perfect purity of each of His Eternal attributes. Two Pillars of which we have processed, and there are two others to understand.

THE THIRD PILLAR

The Third Pillar of God’s Deity is His Omnipresence. Meaning there is not a place inside or outside of creation where He is not present. Think of it this way, if God were to be some place that He has never been four things would be known about His Deity.

  • First, there is something outside or beyond Him. If there is something outside of Him then that something is grander and greater than He. In other words that something has no boundary and God has boundary. Thus that which is unbounded is greater.
  • Second, by the fact that He is someplace He has not been then you would know that God must be still learning. To be someplace you have not been is to, by definition, learn that which you have not seen or known before. Thus God would not be Omniscient nor Immutable because to change location is in itself change and to see what you have not seen is to learn.
  • Third, God would not be Eternal. Why? Because to be Eternal is to exist tomorrow, today, and yesterday simultaneously. If God does not exist in all of these three at the same moment then He is bound by time and that would make time outside of God and thus make time pre-existent to God. That would give God a boundary where He is not and in so doing make time greater than God.
  • Fourth, to be Omnipresent must mean that one must be boundariless - I know there is no such word as “boundariless” I made it up (smile). But, it works! God must pre-exist everything that exists or has ever existed - visible and invisible.

THERE IS NO PLACE THAT GOD IS NOT

The Psalmist understood that there is no place that God is not. There is only a difference in the measure of His presence. God Himself determines that measure, which is in one accord with His self-existent ways.

In His Omnipresence, He is present with you and present with all your generations before you and after you - all at the same time. Remember all of time is simultaneous to God. Therefore God could be present with Jesus on the Mount of Transfiguration and with Elijah and Moses at the same moment. Did you ever wonder how God brought them to the mount?

If God is not Omnipresent then He would have had to leave Jesus with Peter, James, and John to go back in time to retrieve Moses and Elijah in order to bring them to the mountain. That would make God a time traveler, but not make Him Deity.

And so we now discover how God can be the God of the living and not the dead yet simultaneously be the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

“I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’ ? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.” Matthew 22:32

In addition, that would have also told us a few things about God’s Omnipotence - which we will discuss in another post.

Why is this important to you? Because, God is always there. He is watching you, aiding you, protecting you, and preparing you to be a habitation of the most high. You are never, never forgotten, and you are never, never alone.

Blessings,

John Paul

This is so logical and that is why it is some awesome.

This must then be true of everyone, not only those that are abiding in Him. That knowledge brings me face to face with Romans 9:19-20 19 “One of you will say to me: “Then why does God still blame us? For who is able to resist his will?” 20 But who are you, a mere human being, to talk back to God? “Shall what is formed say to the one who formed it, ‘Why did you make me like this?’

What is God’s reaction to that “one”? Is He offended by our doubt/questions? And “need” to understand? Do we chalk up all “unanswered” prayer to God’s sovreignty and greater purposes, or do we need to take some responsibility for lack of belief/double-mindedness (James 1). Did Maria Wooodworth Etter’s children have to die for her to fulfill God’s purposes to her? Or was that a consequence of rebellion? Forgive me for my blathering….I just have many questions. I want to see His Kingdom come!!

    My Response:

I have been struggling with insecurity all of my life, since I was an infant because I was afraid that people around me were going leave me stranded and forget me to the point that no one was ever going to find me again. This contributed to feelings of loss and abandonment in the area of belonging to and trusting in human relationships, the way that the Lord wanted me to trust them. All because I never felt completely understood due to unmet needs. Talk about constantly feeling like I was always on the outside looking in.

The conclusion that I have come to know since coming to this blog is that it must have something to do with ‘The Dark Night of The Soul”. Since coming to this blog, the Lord is setting me free from the tendency of self rejection during these difficult times and instead He has given me the ability to get beyond these difficulties by responding through prayer and calling forth His presence into these situation in order that there may be peace. When His presence comes into these circumstances during these times of adversity and difficulties it is a great consolation to me to know that I am not alone and never forgotten and that He will never leave me nor forsake me because My Lord and Savior lives an loves on the inside of me♥

    Blessings To You,

What is the connection between this “third” pillar and the STREAMS logo – the ball or the water droplet, suspended above the water?

I cannot help but think that there is some quantum parallel between this 3rd pillar (i.e. the promise of His presence) and the water? The water droplet? A rain drop? Other dimensions – being that water has “3” distinct forms: water (liquid), ice & steam (vapor).

    Hmmm?

Like you Nina I have been wrestling with these theological questions…to the point of losing much sleep over the years. I am having a hard time finding comfort knowing He is always with me. I don’t know how to think about that when for instance I’m screaming for His help in the pain of my situations but nothing changes. After a long enough time of no answers it is just a simple reality that there are times I don’t feel like even turning His direction. It seems it only boils down to the principle that God does what He does for a reason and we must trust. I have my good days and my bad days with that one.

In great anger and frustration over knowing He is always present but in my case allowing me great pain I did my best to ‘get away from Him.’ I cranked up the secular radio to and from work louder than the theology spinning in my head. However, over and over during this period of about a year I kept hearing Nickleback’s “Far Away” on the radio and I heard God in it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otbL8blg1vk Maybe this song is the kind of thing God would say to that “one.”

Just a few minutes ago I held my daughter while this song played. She and her lack of healing was the reason I ran from God. Moments of time came together, threads of events and meaning, and she looked at the screen and attentively watched as if to know it’s meaning.

There is something rich and profound being woven in time. I just hope that when the fabric of time is complete it will all make sense and be intensely satisfying. If my prayers are not answered here then I hope it is only to produce something eternal and more astounding and fulfilling than I can imagine. However, if there were any way to find answers to this puzzle I would be the first in line to find out :)

I was thinking of a couple of scriptures in the “time and season” chapter of Ecclesiastes.

“He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put “eternity” in their hearts, except that no one can find out what God does from beginning to end.” Eccl. 3:11

“I know that whatever God does,
    It shall be forever.
Nothing can be added to it,
    And nothing taken from it.
God does it, that men should fear before Him.
That which is has already been,
    And what is to be has already been;
And God requires an account of what is past.”
    Eccl. 3:14-15

Thank God He is God!!! I would hate to think we limited God to being just a “professor” type like we saw in Back To The Future trying to figure out how to move us about…(ha!ha!)

John Paul–God bless your time in Canada and practice your “ehs!!!”

    LOVE TO Y’ALL!!!

  7. Holly October 8th, 2009 8:58 am

    Hi everyone,
Just dropping in to say hello and offer an encouraging word.
ps. 24 The earth is the Lord’s and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.
For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods.
Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? or who shall stand in his holy place?
He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.
He shall receive the blessing from the Lord, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.
This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek thy face, O Jacob.
Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lifted up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.
Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle.
Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.
Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah.
JP, we are keeping our heads up in the face of great adversity. It is becoming obvious that we are warring soldiers. 2Tim.2:4 No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.
Please join with us in praying for this area. And for Richard and me. We need the Lord’s help. Love, Holly

There is a new song, by the group, The Fray called “Never Say Never - Don’t Let Me Go”. Everytime, I heard this song this week and came to the blog to write, I kept hearing the Lord say “Don’t Let Me Go” over and over again. And when John Paul wrote at the end of the blog concerning the Lord’s presence as always being with us and we are never, never forgotten, and we are never, never alone. The words in this song sounds like the Lord, singing to us, “His Bride”. Sometimes we get distracted, but the Lord is always by our side constantly wooing us closer to His heart…Enjoy the song and be blessed! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLdcTUvB2hc

    Two things are necessary,
    Three is indeed benefitial.

One, my logic is not yours, so you don’t understand why i allow what i allow. I know love.

Two, i have bought the ticket to marriage life with God, so you may know i am really am serious, not the type that talks but is disqualified. (I can’t judge you, or else i will judge the Law of your life. But i know the price of my own life. Just like the way and the door are narrow and easily shut to many outside.)

Three, the Lord arrested me for my logic, so i have to give you guys this explanation. You will understand my logic if you have love. why are there wars? Because God is love. Not that i was wrong always but this time the Lord wanted me to explain my strange ways.

  13. Holly October 13th, 2009 8:25 am

……. I can relate to what everyone is saying about having a lack of understanding. What the Lord showed me is Phil. 4:6.
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
I found that peace lies beyond MY understanding. I had to grow past my understanding and then I found peace. Blessings, Holly

Its funny how theologians say hell is eternal separation from God. Even, according to who God is, that would be impossible.

It can’t even be “eternal separation from God’s love” as some say because 1 John 4:8 says “God is love”

What we have are just two groups of people. Two those in Sheol he is the “God of Justice” and to those in Heaven he is “LORD God, merciful and gracious.” Because he has mercy upon whom he shall have mercy.

Because of his mercy we get the honor of believing in Jesus Christ.

After 31 years, not only was the Lord trying me but his faithfulness also was being tried, and he hass passed with flying colors! Our Father has brought me to see my King in an astounding way! The whole book is about Jesus! From begining to end. I am falling head over heels in love with my King! Its no wonder Jesus had such a magnificent introduction, Christ the Lord! That I may know him! The Head of the church, the only mediator between God and man! God has made this same Jesus both Lord and Christ! When it is all said and done, my King is who I will stand before and hear Him say, Enter in or depart from me! We are the sheep of his pasture, and he is the Shepard! Stay with the shepard, All we must learn of the Father will be taught by Jesus through the comforter! Bye!
