The Edge of the Dark Night of the Soul

Category: Thoughts

.!.

“I have looked for You in the sanctuary, to see Your power and Your glory.” Psalms 63:2

It is clear that David understood the Glory and the power that were present in the two rooms called the sanctuary. David knew that God’s power and Glory were there to help him change. Here, in the Sanctuary, one can see and experience The Spirit of God at depths far beyond mortal abilities and as you ascend to higher spiritual levels the change needed stretches beyond our own capability.

INCREASED PRESENCE
In this first room of the Sanctuary, drenched with a seeming unearthly light, one learns the introductory finery of a life aided by an increased presence of the Divine. Yet, even in David’s most intimate moments with God, he was left wanting for more. How is that? Because, he could not experience what you have the opportunity to experience today. What is that? He could only experience being in the presence of the Spirit of the Living God – you see David could not experience the very Spirit of God residing within him. You have this opportunity. The very Spirit of God desires to dwell within you. At the time of David one could be infilled with the smoke, but not The Presence it represented. Today, you have this Spirit within you and that very Spirit is seeking to take over – if you will allow that to happen, for He will not violate your will.

ICONS
These pieces of furniture in the Holy Place, as well as the screen, the smoke, the bread, the light, and the gold were all merely shadows of things to come. They spoke and prophesied of a coming era when light would not come from a candlestick, smoke would not come from incense, bread would not be made by hand, and the Spirit of God would speak directly to your heart, not through icons. These pieces of furniture can still help you visualize the enormity of what God has provided and as such they are very good, but they are not the fullness of what they represent.

TWO PURPOSES FOR THE FURNITURE
Speaking in broad terms, the furniture of this room is designed for two purposes, first, to help you understand God, second, to prepare you to present yourself to Him. The latter will come first. Before you can fully understand as much as you can about God, the dust must be swept from your thinking. You see nothing sticks when dust is on the floor. Therefore, before you take the first step toward the furniture, you will encounter the cleansing astringent of the “Dark Night of the Soul.” The fact is - by the time you are here you are already in it.

THE CATAPULT
It is the increased presence of the Divine that actually catapults you into The Dark Night of The Soul. There is a spiritual law that says, “The denser the atmosphere, the greater the change,” and the Dark Night of the Soul is all about change, deep, lasting change, transformational change. Change so deeply felt that one eventually loses track of what they once were. Here, the past seems like it happened to another person, and old things become new. More than likely, this process will be far to slow for you. None-the-less, the purpose for creating you will ultimately become clear – one cell at a time.

More on the Dark night of the Soul in my next post.

Blessings,
John Paul

    John Paul,

Prior to this post I thought that there was something wrong with me, because I am experiencing what you wrote, “the past seems like it happened to another person, and old things become new.” I’ve gone from living in the past, and reliving the past, to living a new life. I honestly thought I was going crazy. Truly, I did. But the freedom of becoming new…there is nothing like it. The process has taken over 10 years and I’m not sure that I’m finished. It’s been a slow, confusing, and lonely process. But I’m free of the pain of the past. That’s priceless.

I don’t know if you (fellow bloggers) have experienced unpleasant physical symptoms while in the The Dark Night of the Soul, but I have. I suspect my cells were releasing stored negative beliefs and emotions. It’s still worth it all.

    Blessings

This is so good….It just seems to be saturating my soul - can’t explain it.

    Thank you for this teaching.

And the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of the Living God is our Heavenly Father’s change agent for mankind.

Included in this post is a video of my beloved’s most darkest night on this earth done to a Brian Adams song, Everything I do, I Do, I Do For You. Surprisingly, You Tube voted it as inappropriate for minors. So in order to view this video one has to click on confirm age status.

Could you imagine this happening only in America land of free and home of the brave with all the violence and evil that has already been allowed by Hollywood to invade the hearts and minds of this new up and coming generation.

We need a heavenly and Holy standard in the media. John Paul did you ever think about making a movie out of what you are teaching here in this blog regarding the rooms of mystery. Good News Holdings, now Plymouth Rock Studio’s, aka as “Hollywood East” which is a christian production studio, just moved their offices to Plymouth Massachusetts, and as of 24 hours ago, the town selectman voted to begin production of Hollywood East bringing greater employment opportunities to the whole state in regards to the entertainment industry. The site should be finished by 2010. I have been exceedingly blessed beyond measure coming to this blog.

    Blessings!

For me …in reading it’s like receiving an impartation, a gentle pressure , that when released leaves more of God & less of me, it may be one cell, but it’s a beautiful cell. I just want to stay & soak Him in.

How incredibly awesome to know that from the beginning added to His plan of salvation for us, was His desire to live within us. The Tabernacle being a picture or a type of you and me. Thanks John Paul for reminding us and revealing more God’s nature and yearning for intimacy!!!

    Blessings

Thank you John Paul, for taking the time to walk us through the things that will keep us now, and forever. Thank you for being gentle to, and also for not holding back correction. You can mess in my business…

Shirley, I took the time to see the video you “posted”, and to me, it remains a mystery to how Jesus was able to bear what He bore for us.

But this time, as I watched, I saw something in His eyes that I hadn’t seen before. As His mother saw Him being whipped, she cried and looked at Him as to ask why He was letting this happen? While blood was pouring down His face, His eyes responded, “I have got to do this”…

As I think about that, I conclude that there was a power in Him that went beyond the pain He was going through at that moment and made Him fit for the job, permitting and bearing great and enourmous injustice. All that He was made up of that took Him through all of what He suffered, is something that I long to understand more and more…

Sometimes, it feels like tears will flow endlessly…

    God Bless!

Hello John Paul and all…..blessings!! I had a vision of a seed deep in the richest soil I have ever seen, and the relentless struggle for new life as it slowly pushes to the surface. Never once thinking of receding, but pushing onward towards the prize of freedom…..

I am now standing in front of a long gold wall with two huge doors. I am pounding on the doors weeping as pieces of clay are falling off my body, crying out to the Father. I long to enter in to feel His gentle caress…..

The clarity of these teachings are from one who has entered in, one who has known the sorrow of flailing in the darkness. Sensing with every fiber of your being the pure love in each beat of the Father’s heart. Though the experience is different for each individual, you, John Paul have been shown a heavenly blueprint for us to follow.

I read April to October in one sitting!! Attending the Metrowest Bridge for the last four years has taught me to search deeply for the things of God, and there has been many powerful experiences along the way. Yet these teachings from the throne room have triggered an insatiable hunger for even more.

There is no cost to great to attain to the image of Christ. Press on O’ mighty warriors of God!! Let us raise our swords to the Lord of the Hosts and we will never be put to shame!! The Dark Nights are a precursor to the peace needed for what is about to transpire…..” If you have raced with men on foot and they have worn you out, how can you compete with the horses? If you stumble in safe country, how will you manage in the thickets by the Jordan?” Jer.12:5

Thank you John Paul for being a willing vessel and mouthpiece to those who are seeking true intimacy with the Father…..May the Lord be your cloud by day and your pillar of fire by night…..Always in His presence, Dwayne…..><((”<

Finally something that truly explains what I’ve been going through and not very gracefully I must admit. I was afraid that this is where I was - in the dark night of the soul.
I’ve been kicking and screaming to get out but to no avail. And with orders to give up coffee, I’m really a mess. I’ll be glad when this is done!
